As with quite a few other active skills, Run Away is situational in its usefulness. It will allow the hero to get places fast when they need to. This could include bolstering the defense in another part of the dungeon, outrunning a large wave after opening a door, or trying to get to a merchant before the monsters eat him.
As skills can't be activated while carrying the crystal, it becomes a little less useful for carriers.
