Ayairi Whairydd

"Born the seventh pup of a seventh pup of a seventh pup, yet unable to count higher than "1, 2, lots", Ayairi's glorious future was unlocked when prions from the labs of Auriga slightly altered her brain structure. Now by far the smartest being on Auriga, she hangs out with the dungeon's merchant, an ex-investment banker, discussing stochastic differential equations and the Black-Scholes model for option pricing."

Overview[]

A secret hero, there is a chance to have Ayairi on your team instead of one of the normal heroes if you select to play with a random character. She has amazing skills but needs constant monitoring, as she can use no equipment and has 0 defense. She cannot be unlocked like other heroes; she can only be used during the playthroughs when she is placed as a random starting hero.

Strategy[]

Congratulations if you begin a game with Ayairi at all, as the chance of starting with her is extremely slim and practicing with her consistently is basically impossible. Cherish this moment. She is a unique hero in a multitude of ways. First off, she is incapable of equipping a weapon or device at all, and has a traumatizing defense stat of 0. As a result she is extremely difficult to keep alive (which, given the nature of the game, is likely intentional). This is all the more cruel as she has an amazing set of skills, and uniquely gains a skill every single level. She is a fantastic scout, gaining Pilfer the earliest of any hero as well as having Scamper, Nyctophilia, and Repair. Despite her fragility, it is highly recommended to keep her as near combat as possible, as she has easily the highest resource gains for doing so, possessing Pickpocket, Soylent Green and Recycling. Overclocked and Paramedic are also potent active abilities that will hopefully help her stay alive longer than otherwise.

Two things hinder Ayairi. 1) You will barely ever have the chance to use her, and 2) when you do, she will die swiftly if you don't babysit her constantly. Which is a real shame, as her abilities make for a very effective hero. While she has no skills unique to her, her combination of them is unique and very powerful. Too bad she is the most fragile character in the game on top of being the rarest. She is the embodiment of the passive-aggressive sadism that is Dungeon of the Endless. Well played, Amplitude.

Trivia[]

The inclusion of pugs in the game is based on an in-studio campaign by a developer to get a company pet - a pug.
